A track record of success

cp2. is a specialist global infrastructure investment manager. For over 25 years, we have been investing in and managing core infrastructure assets that provide secure, stable, inflation-protected cash flows over the long term.

Key Milestones

1997 – Pioneering Research
and Infrastructure Advisory

cp2. set up as a truly independent research house in Australia. Our primary focus was the valuation of infrastructure and industrial listed securities via professional discounted cash flow techniques rather than approximations otherwise made in the marketplace.

Building upon our success, we broadened our product offering to provide consulting advice to leading global institutional and pension fund clients on the relatively new infrastructure asset class. This advice included valuation of assets whether listed or unlisted, detailed portfolio construction and related advisory services.

2005 – Launching Infrastructure
Investment Management

2005 marked a significant milestone when a prominent Australasian government pension fund awarded cp2. its first discretionary global infrastructure mandate. This recognition propelled our transition into an independent infrastructure investment management firm. Expanding globally, we quickly grew our client base of sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and other long-term-focused entities.

The mandate was simple: find value in infrastructure, whether in listed securities or unlisted assets. During this time cp2. held substantial stakes in major listed infrastructure companies including Zurich Airport (Switzerland), Brisa (Portugal), United Utilities (UK), Transurban (Australia), and ConnectEast (Australia).

The 35% stake cp2. had built in the ASX-listed ConnectEast allowed us to lead a consortium of eight global institutional investors to take the company private in 2011 via a AUD2.1 billion transaction. cp2. continues to manage the toll road we acquired in this way on behalf of institutional clients.

Other unlisted investments made include a toll road joint venture with Transurban in the US, as well as rail assets Airportlink in Sydney and Airtrain in Brisbane which were bought out of receivership at attractive valuations.

2024 – Taking our offering
to a broader client base

After more than a quarter of a century of investing and managing several billion dollars on behalf of global financial institutions, cp2. will open its doors to sophisticated individual investors and family offices for the first time in 2024. Listed infrastructure once again represents strong value and our initial product offering will invest in global, core listed infrastructure stocks with a focus on inflation linkage and downside protection.

Our future growth

From our pioneering beginnings to our present achievements, cp2. continues to thrive as a specialised infrastructure investment manager. With a focus on secure, stable, and inflation-protected cash flows, we remain committed to delivering exceptional value to our partners and investors.
